Unforgettable animal interactions (part 1)

Welcome to this blog! Today I want to share with you some unique animal interactions abroad. In this blog you’ll read about the nicest experience with The Big Five, Whale Sharks, horses and husky’s, the best place to meet them and what time of the year is best to visit them.

Spot The Big Five

The name “The Big Five” is not just any old name, it applies to the following animals: the lion, the leopard, the elephant, rhino and buffalo. It’s indescribable what it’s like to see these animals in the wild. Going on safari is a once in a lifetime experience you don’t want to miss!

To spot them all on safari you should visit Tanzania, Kenya or South Africa between the months May and September.

Swim with Whale Sharks

Whale sharks are massive! You feel so tiny when you swim next to a whale shark them. The average whale shark is about 8 meters, but they can become 15 meters long. Such a large whale shark weights about 15 tons. They have 300 rows of small teeth, about 3000 in total! Luckily they only eat plankton. Compared to other sharks, they swim very slowly, not faster than about 5 km per hour.

Some good places and periods to swim with Whale Sharks:
Cancun, Mexico – July to August is peak season
Donsol Bay, Philippines – February to April
Gladden Spit, Belize – between march and June
Exmouth, West Australia – between march and July

Horseback riding

Horseback riding is the perfect way to enjoy your destination. Sitting in the saddle, you explore the surroundings at a quiet pace and get to places where you wouldn’t go by bike or car. Often you go in a group with a guide who keeps an eye on everyone. Fortunately, the fact that not everyone can ride a horse is often taken into account, so I definitely recommend doing this abroad! There are a lot of beautiful horseback riding destinations like Cuba, Chile and Argentina.

Adventurous Husky Safari

What an experience the husky safari! During the husky safari you will make a trip through forests and over frozen lakes. The fresh air, the silence and the snowy landscape are remarkable. Who knows, you might also see the northern lights in the evening.

The best countries for this cool safari are Lapland and the North of Norway between January and April.
