The Andes

Peru’s most popular landmark, Machu Picchu, is located in the Andes. To reach Machu Picchu, you can take a 360-degree train or walk along the Inca Trail. The best time to visit the Andes is between May and September. The chances that the sky is clear are greatest during this period and therefore you have a better chance of enjoying the beautiful views in the high mountains. Keep in mind that this is the high season and it will be busy with tourists. Would you prefer it to be quieter? Then you can choose to go in March or April. This is just after the rainy season so the area is very green and alive and not yet teeming with tourists. Especially if you want to hike the Inca Trail it is recommended to go in April.

Amazon

Do you want to discover the rainforest? Then it’s best to book your trip between May and September. The Amazon is full of life; the dense jungle and unique flora and fauna make the Amazon a true natural paradise. Therefore, it should definitely not be missed during your trip to Peru. The Amazon does have a rainy season and this is between October and March. In this period the humidity is also very high, but if that doesn’t matter to you, the Amazon can also be visited in the other months.

Want to escape the cold and rain in winter? Then Peru is certainly a suitable winter sun destination. In the months from December to March it is warmest along the coast of Peru, so you can enjoy the sun. From Lima you can also make a wonderful excursion to the small Galapagos islands, the Ballestas. A luxury bus takes you to Paracas and from there you depart by boat for the small group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. Thousands of penguins, dolphins, sea lions and pelicans inhabit this group of islands off the coast of Peru. A tour of the Islas Ballestas is an absolute highlight of your round trip through Peru.
